The 70th anniversary of Lichfield’s Rotary Club party was a huge success with over 80 guests attending the event at Whittington Golf Club on the 27th October. The efforts of the committee of five who organised the event need to be congratulated for their hard work that went into the event.

The night went off with a swing from our longest serving member Peter Boggis who has been President three times – once back in 1983 and also a two year stint from 1993 and 1994. He proposed Grace at the start and during which he wrote his own version which produced amusement to every guest.

A number of guests to the event were the Lichfield City’s Mayor Cllr. Robert Yardley and Lady Mayoress Cllr. Jayne Marks and also Sheriff of Lichfield Peter Hitchman whilst  guests from Lichfield Lions  and also  Rotary members from other nearby clubs.

Our own President Mike gave a short speech in which whilst thanking those for attending he also stated that the club had raised in excess of £55,000 over the last five years and hoped that some of his audience would consider joining Rotary. Mike received support in the form of eight members of his family at his table.
